It appears Democrat Peter Visclosky, Indiana thinks the government needs to study up on alternative healing; that is pursuits like yoga and meditation. He believes so strongly in this that he has added a tacked on funding appropriation of 2 million dollars to go to the Samueli Institute for Information Biology.
Upon looking a bit closer we find the Samueli family has been a major campaign donor for years. To get an idea what kind of a place this Samueli Institute for Information Biology is, look here. It is from what I can see a new age type holistic medicine place; the kind of place moonbats frequent.
While in the grand scheme of things 2 million is a drop in the bucket, imagine if all congressmen and senators tacked on a million here and there to help out their buddies who donated money to their campaigns. Apparently Mr Visclosky had some legislative compadres such as Representative James Moran, a Virginia Democrat also tacked on a million for the Samueli Institute. This wasteful spending is in itself a crime but it's compounded by the fact that Democrats want to cut funding for our troops in Iraq and yet they have no qualms wasting taxpayer money for ridiculous stuff like this. Its not like the founder of the Samueli Institute needs the money either as he is reportedly worth 2 billion dollars.
This wasteful spending is apparently widespread among politicians and getting worse. That's why the president needs to be able to have line item veto rights.

This ticks me off. Big time. The Democrats incessantly whine about spending to get into office, then pull crap like this. It is so predictable, yet people keep buying their ****! AAAARRRRRRGH!
Never forget that there are dishonest voters who want a fellow crook in office to bribe.
This is the reason why I want the franchise -- the right to vote and hold office -- limited to those who are literate enough to pass an American Citizenship examination and a criminal background check.
If that were done, you could just kiss the Democrat Party goodbye.
Cheers, Ronbo
The dual party system has always been a weakness, but when people realized they could vote themselves money (as predicted by people ages ago) it signalled a major decline.
