OBAMA: A FACE IN THE CROWD

In the 1957 B&W classic, "A Face In The Crowd," persecuted anti-Communist director Elia Kazan commanded newly discovered actor Andy Griffith in his best screen role as Lonesome Rhodes, a nobody psychopath drifter and songster from Arkansas who rises to national fame as a political king maker and breaker television personality only to crash back into the dismal deeps when the public discovers his true character in off -air- comments on live television.

When viewing this movie again recently, I couldn't help but think of Barack Obama, our current president who shares many traits with the Lonesome Rhodes character portrayed by Andy Griffith: Charisma, talent, and the ability to come from nowhere (Before 2002 and his election to the U.S. Senate who had heard of Barack Obama?)to become a political mover and shaker.

Barack Obama and the Lonesome Rhodes character also have an important personality disorder in common that leads to their destruction at the end of the performance: Both are psychopaths. An excellent article on the topic can be found here, but such a person can be compared to a monster in human form who is forced to wear a mask. This is illustrated well in "The Phantom of the Opera" in which a murderer whose hideous face is hidden by a mask sacrifices numerous victims on his altar of "ART" in the Paris opera. In other words, The Phantom's twisted view of the opera means more to him than the lives of his fellow human beings.

In case of Barack Obama the "ART" that he dreams, schemes and lies for is Marxist politics, although like a Muslim, his politics are only one part of a complete totalitarian belief system that includes religion. Those who are the self appointed Grand Masters of Marxism and Islam view "The Psychopathic Mantra" as all important, seeing, knowing and wise. They see people only as a means to their ends of world domination and themselves as masters of the universe. Of course, people will not follow a monster who cares only about his own goals, thus it is necessary for them to wear the mask of caring and compassion for their fellow man.

"The Phantom of the Opera" is redeemed by the love of a woman who can look at terrible face and teach him to love his fellow imperfect beings, whereas The Lonesome Rhodes character is hurled back into the darkness of the anonymous when he rejects the love of a good woman and his mask falls off in a very public venue. I predict the same fate for Barack Obama - At some point his mask will fall off and the hideous monster exposed for all the world to see with shock will be hounded back into the darkness by the righteous rage of the American People.
