President Obama doesn’t have the “cojones” to protect America’s border with Mexico, Sarah Palin charged today, using Spanish slang for testicles.
In lashing out at the President’s manhood, the former Alaska governor was lamenting a federal judge’s decision last week to toss key parts of Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s controversial immigration law that would let cops detain people who look to them like illegal immigrants.
“Jan Brewer has the cojones that our President does not have to look out for all Americans, not just Arizonans, but all Americans,” Pailn said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“If our own President will not enforce a federal law, more power to Jan Brewer and 44 other states who are in line to help support Jan Brewer in state laws, state efforts, to do what our President won’t do,” Palin said.
The former GOP vice presidential nominee’s words did not sit well with opponents who consider the measure legalized racial profiling and an attempt to pander to anti-immigrant fear.
“It’s easy to pass a law that says that people can be stopped on the street simply because somebody assumes that they are undocumented or illegal, in this climate,” said Rep. Jose Serrano (D-Bronx).
He told The Mouth that taking on the law - which is broadly popular in national opinion polls - takes a lot more fortitude on the part of President Obama.
“If she believes that that slang word in Spanish means having courage, having guts, well, it’s clear to me, that he’s the one with the guts,” Serrano said. “Passing a law that discriminates against people? That’s not courage to me — that’s being wrong. Courage is going back and saying you can’t do that.”
The Justice Department argued the law violates the Constitution by trespassing on federal authority.
Judge Susan Bolton agreed, and also found the provisions allowing police to detain people violates the Fourth Amendment bars on unreasonable search and seizure.
“It would have been nice to see Sarah Palin learn other Spanish words like “Constitucion,” or maybe “amor a la Constitucion” - love for our Constitution,” Serrano said.
