It's a damn shame the black heroes of WW I were treated in such a shameful manner, but you have understand that white racism ran high in those years, thanks in no small part to DEMOCRAT President Wilson - a white racist of the first order Klanship - who segregated the U.S. Armed Forces and federal bureaucracy in 1913. This segregation lasted until REPUBLICANS pressured Harry Truman into desegregating the Armed Forces and federal bureaucracy in 1948.
Blacks have served in every conflict fought by the USA to include the American Revolution, where in Washington's army they served with white men. Lincoln was to say at the conclusion of the Civil War that the black regiments that totaled over 200,000 frontline troops made victory possible in the last terrible year of that conflict.
This is the wonderful thing about being an American nationalist: Regardless of race, creed or color anyone who served the Republic with courage and valor is honored the same as any other - even if takes 70 or 80 years in the sad case of Henry Johnson.
